In mid-September, Department 9.3 became a meeting place for all of the experts who regularly work for PTB in Africa and the Middle East and the employees of the “North Africa and Middle East” and “Sub-Saharan Africa” working groups.
Within the scope of the “Regional days – Africa and the Middle East”, there was an opportunity to discuss not only the different International Cooperation projects in the region but also to have a lively discussion about overarching topics. Thanks to the interactive format, which covered everything from a quiz and poster presentations to PowerPoint presentations, it was never boring.
The objective of the event was to promote networking between the different projects: both horizontally regarding common topics such as, for example, agricultural value chains or photovoltaics, and vertically regarding, for example, pan-African integration. Especially the latter is of great importance for our work in the broad field of quality infrastructure. Within the context of the new pan-African continental free trade area, the continental institutions of quality infrastructure and their integration to the regional and national levels is becoming increasingly important. That is one more reason to exchange ideas even more closely between the projects!
We were pleased to be with the entire Africa and Middle East team for a few days, to see new faces and to bring a breath of fresh air into the work routine together with old acquaintances. We’re already looking forward to next time!
