The International Cooperation group of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is organizing a series of online events complemented by a knowledge management platform to share and discuss lessons learned in the development of quality infrastructure (QI) for the photovoltaic (PV) sector in PTB partner countries and invites all interested parties to this virtual QI4PV global exchange.
In the pursuit of a sustainable energy transition, PV technology serves as a cornerstone. Recognizing the immense PV potential in partner countries, the German Ministry of Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has played a pivotal role in ensuring the quality of PV investments. Over the last decade, PTB has spearheaded dedicated development cooperation projects in India, Indonesia, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Vietnam, and Armenia. Collaborating with international and local stakeholders, PTB has facilitated the creation of valuable products and approaches. For standardization, these include studies regarding standards for PV, support for standard implementation with awareness raising events, assessments of PV plants, guidelines, policy briefs, checklists, customized training sessions, and support for the active engagement of national experts in international standardization work. Laboratory development to allow quality assurance of PV components is supported via consultancy, capacity development for the expansion of services, and internal laboratory quality assurance; in some cases, equipment is being calibrated or procured. Metrology services for the PV sector are being developed, with target groups ranging from PV system owners and users to PV module manufacturers and testing and calibration laboratories. A holistic approach to quality infrastructure and the PV sector also allows topics to be addressed such as accreditation of laboratories and certification bodies and the contribution of quality infrastructure to the end-of-life management of PV systems.
PTB and its partners are committed to promoting joint learning activities and establishing connections among their QI4PV experts. To achieve this, PTB is organizing a virtual QI4PV global exchange and presenting these insightful studies, approaches and experiences to an audience comprising experts from QI institutions and public and private actors with an interest assessment and improvement of the quality in the PV sector. The event series is open to all interested and relevant parties, offering sessions in English with simultaneous interpretation in French. For those keen on delving into QI4PV and expanding their professional network, registration for one or several sessions is available. Beyond these events, registered participants will enjoy exclusive access to an online platform, providing comprehensive information on all topics covered during the sessions and allowing a global exchange between QI4PV experts.
