The National Institute for Metrology in Thailand, NIMT, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding this summer. As PTB and as the International Cooperation group, we wish to congratulate NIMT and send our best wishes on this special occasion.
There was also a change of office in the NIMT board this year. Dr. Pornchai Suteerakune was recently appointed to succeed Dr. Ajchara Charoensook as director. We sincerely thank Dr. Charensook for her dedication and commitment throughout the period of our collaboration and wish Dr. Suteerakune the best for his term of office!
With this anniversary, we are also celebrating 25 years of close and successful cooperation between the NIMT and PTB. We feel privileged to have been associated with NIMT since its founding. Driven by our common pursuit of metrological accuracy, our partnership has gone through an impressive development over time.
During the first few years, PTB supported the establishment of the institute by sharing its knowledge and experience. In the meantime, NIMT has become an important partner in our international cooperation work. Together, we have conducted many projects to spread metrology to less developed national economies. Our collaboration with the Asia Pacific Metrology Programme stands out in particular. Besides that, there were many bilateral programmes, such as in Indonesia or Mongolia, in which NIMT’s experts were able to provide valuable training courses and advice to their colleagues. We are still actively collaborating on scientific topics and jointly supporting efforts to strengthen metrology systems in less developed countries up to today.
We are deeply grateful for our long-standing connection and are looking forward to increasing the scope of our cooperation in the future.
To mark the anniversary, staff and experts of PTB have sent their congratulations in the form of a short film. It can be accessed here:
