Reflecting on a Successful Year
As we step into 2025, it’s time to reflect on the journey of the re-energized QuISP Alumni Network. The past year has been pivotal for our community, marked by significant achievements and initiatives that have strengthened our connections and enhanced our collective impact. Here’s a look back at what we have accomplished together and how we plan to build on this progress in the year ahead.
About the QuISP Alumni Network
The QuISP Alumni Network, established by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), is a global initiative aimed at connecting quality practitioners that have completed PTB’s blended learning course “Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development” over the past 15 years. By providing alumni with opportunities to stay connected and continue learning from one another long after completing the course, the network strengthens the bonds within the quality infrastructure (QI) community. Additionally, it serves as a hub for bringing together top expertise in QI, extending its impact beyond the network itself and contributing to better and more sustainable development worldwide.
Initially, the network was managed by the PTB team. However, for the past two years, some hosts from the alumni, alongside the PTB team, have been managing it, creating a dynamic platform that fully reflects its mission to be a network that is run “for the alumni, with the alumni, and by the alumni”.
Webinars: Sharing Knowledge and Continuing Involvement
One of our key initiatives was organizing two successful webinars, which served as platforms for knowledge sharing and professional development. The first webinar, conducted on the 26 February 2024, focused on “QI Essentials for the Sustainable Development of International Trade in Developing Countries”. Distinguished speakers from the field shared their insights and experiences, making it a platform for learning and lively discussions that fostered community knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Our second webinar, held on the 4 November 2024, titled “The impact of digitalization on Quality Infrastructure – The Opportunities and Challenges” attracted a diverse audience of alumni. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with participants appreciating the relevant content and the chance to engage with industry leaders.
These webinars have laid the groundwork for future learning opportunities and established the QuISP Alumni Network as a hub for professional development.
Newsletters: Keeping Our Community Informed
To keep our members updated and engaged, we published two newsletters in 2024. The newsletters have become a vital communication tool, highlighting recent activities, upcoming events, and member achievements. Each edition has showcased success stories from our alumni, reinforcing the value of our network and inspiring others to share their experiences.
Launching the Alumni Database
A significant milestone for the QuISP Alumni Network was the successful launch of our alumni database, a key resource aimed at fostering connections and collaboration among members. This centralized platform is designed to enhance engagement within the community by facilitating mentorship, networking, and professional opportunities. By continuously updating their profiles, alumni contribute to making the database a dynamic and robust tool that strengthens bonds, promotes collaboration, and supports each member’s professional journey.
Looking Ahead
As we embrace the opportunities of a new year, we celebrate the strong foundation that we have built and the enthusiasm of our members that has fuelled our progress.
In 2025, we aim to expand our webinar series, explore topics of interest, enhance communication through newsletters, and further develop the alumni database to maximize its value. We will continue working to grow our community by welcoming more members and ensuring that everyone benefits from the opportunities we create together.
The re-energized QuISP Alumni Network has made remarkable strides in fostering connections, sharing knowledge, and building a vibrant community.
