We are pleased to announce the publication of our latest guidance document on Proficiency Testing (PT). A big thank you goes out to Carlos Bindé and Anett Matbadal who are the authors of this guidance document. It would serve as a practical resource for scientists and technicians involved in testing and quality assurance, offering key recommendations for planning and executing PT programs effectively.
Why Proficiency Testing Matters
Proficiency testing is a critical tool for assessing laboratory performance, developing the competencies of participants, and ensuring reliable measurement results. However, implementing PT programs comes with challenges—ranging from risk management to maintaining schedules and minimizing delays.
What This Guide Offers
Based on real-world experience from PT programs for refrigerators and room air conditioners within the MERCOSUR-PTB project, this guide provides:
- Key challenges and how to address them
- Best practices for program organization
- Strategies to mitigate risks and delays
By following these recommendations, PT-providers and laboratories can enhance their capabilities, ensure comparability of results, and strengthen quality infrastructure in their respective fields.
