Ten years of successful cooperation between the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the Asia-Pacific Legal Metrology Forum (APLMF) and the Asia-Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP) have come to an end. The final online workshop of the MEDEA 3.0 project (Metrology: Enabling Developing Economies in Asia) took place on 27 March 2025 – a moment worthy of looking back at an extraordinary partnership together.
Especially the last phase of the project after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic was characterized by intensive collaboration: During the past three years, there were more than 17 online workshops and 18 face-to-face training courses. Numerous successful subprojects were implemented, for example the training series on awareness-raising, which resulted in nine policy briefs and ten case studies.
These results and many more are still accessible via the joint online portal of APMP, APLMF and PTB: metrologyasiapacific.com
Starting at the beginning of May, three practice-oriented guidelines will be additionally provided for conveying metrological content, for developing e-learning courses and for stakeholder management. All of this material will remain accessible online beyond the official end of the project on 30 April 2025.
The jointly developed e-learning courses were also a special highlight, which generated a total of seven modules during the past three years on topics such as prepacked goods, rice moisture measurement, inspection of weighing instruments for heavy goods vehicles, calibration of infusion pumps, measurement models, calibration of fluid and digital thermometers as well as moisture measurement and calibration. All courses are accessible on PTB’s e-learning platform free of charge. Interested persons can receive access by sending a short email with their name and email address.
For APLMF: policy@aplmf.org or secretariat@aplmf.org
For APMP: angela.samuel@measurement.gov.au
We are currently also working on making the modules accessible on the e-learning platforms of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) and of the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML).

At the end of this long-term collaboration, we would like to say thank you.
Thank you for the collaboration, the valuable exchange of knowledge and the great commitment of all involved parties. Without you, the success of MEDEA 3.0 would not have been possible.
