The Edeka Görge supermarkets in Braunschweig are testing a pilot project for six months that enables customers to pay an additional 20 cents by using a tag on the pineapple.
This voluntary bonus payment is transferred by a payment system called “XtraPay” directly to the farmer via Mobile Money. Mobile Money is a transparent system which allows payments to be traced.
We would like to support this wonderful idea by sharing it with our dear readers.
A minute-long video clip which explains the payment system in English is available here:
By the way, the system was developed by a team of development cooperation scouts. This brilliant idea came from Anna Peter who is an advisor at BGA (Bundesverband Großhandel, Außenhandel, Dienstleistungen).
Will you be joining us? We would love it if you participated!
PTB’s International Cooperation Department is also active in the agrarian sector in Ghana. Our project partners have worked hard to achieve the competence to test the food safety of mangoes and cashews. They can now guarantee that the quality of these fruits and nuts meet EU demands – and you can enjoy your delicious treats from Ghana!
