The Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification, and Trade Inspection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has reached a significant milestone in the development of its national quality infrastructure. The agency’s calibration laboratory has been officially accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) in accordance with the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard. This accreditation confirms the laboratory’s competence in performing precise calibrations and enhances its credibility on an international level.

Accreditation Details
The accreditation, awarded under the number AB-0308-K, was granted following a comprehensive assessment by TURKAK. The official accreditation date is February 13, 2025, and it remains valid until February 13, 2029, subject to ongoing compliance with international standards and regulations. This recognition strengthens Tajikistan’s participation in global quality assurance networks, as TURKAK is a signatory to the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) Multilateral Agreement (MLA) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA).
Scope of Accreditation
The calibration laboratory’s accreditation covers a range of measurement capabilities, ensuring precise and reliable calibration for the following measurands:
Weighing Instruments
- Non-automatic Weighing Devices (Balances)
- 1 mg ≤ m ≤ 10 kg (Reference: Class E2 mass, Uncertainty: 1 × 10⁻⁶, Method: EURAMET Calibration Guide No. 18)
- 1 mg ≤ m ≤ 1 kg (Reference: Class F1 mass, Uncertainty: 2 × 10⁻⁶, Method: EURAMET Calibration Guide No. 18)
- 1 kg ≤ m ≤ 40 kg (Reference: Class F2 mass, Uncertainty: 7.5 × 10⁻⁶, Method: EURAMET Calibration Guide No. 18)
All weighing instrument calibrations are performed on-site at customer locations.
Temperature Measurement
- Liquid-in-Glass Thermometers
- -40°C to -30°C (Medium: Liquid Bath, Uncertainty: 0.14°C, Method: PTB Testing Instructions, Volume 2, 2nd Revised Edition, 1999)
- -30°C to 250°C (Medium: Liquid Bath, Uncertainty: 0.13°C, Method: PTB Testing Instructions, Volume 2, 2nd Revised Edition, 1999)
- Temperature Meters with Indicator (Thermistor Resistance)
- -40°C to 0°C (Medium: Liquid Bath, Uncertainty: 0.17°C, Method: DKD-R 5.1 Calibration of Resistance Thermometers)
- 0°C to 250°C (Medium: Liquid Bath, Uncertainty: 0.15°C, Method: DKD-R 5.1 Calibration of Resistance Thermometers)
A Step Forward for Tajikistan’s Quality Infrastructure
This accreditation marks a crucial step forward for Tajikistan’s national quality infrastructure. It reinforces the country’s commitment to international best practices in metrology and calibration, enhancing the reliability of measurement processes across various industries. With this recognition, the laboratory is now positioned to provide internationally accepted calibration services, benefiting local and regional industries requiring precise measurement and calibration.
This important milestone was achieved in the project Strengthening of quality infrastructures in the countries of Central Asia, coordinated by Christopher Colell and supported by the local coordinator Veronika Grushevskaya. The project ended last year and is a good example of how activities continue to have an impact even after the project has ended.

The achievement underscores Tajikistan’s growing role in the global quality assurance framework, paving the way for future advancements and strengthening its integration into international trade and industry standards.
